Leon, with a population of approximately 390,000 people is located about 100 kilometers from Managua. The full legal name of the city, granted in Spanish Colonial times, is Santiago de los Caballeros de Leon, but this is little used. Leon has a lot to offer in the way of museums, churches, volcanoes, history and beaches.
